The “Day of HOPE” program held New Years festivities for orphaned children which took place in orphanages all over Moscow thanks to the volunteers from HOPE worldwide– Russia.
They made special presents for the children, and of course, they couldn’t celebrate the holiday without Santa Claus! All the children gathered around Santa immediately started talking to him and sharing about all of their news from the previous year. Some of the bravest children even tried on Santa’s cap and beard! In the end every child who wanted to was able to try on Santa’s costume. It was touching to see how the children ran to Santa and how easily they shared their dreams and desires with him.
The Pop band “Bozhya Korovka” has participated in HOPE programs for many years by giving concerts for the children, and HOPE worldwide – Russia is extremely grateful to them for this. In December 2008 the band visited another one of the Moscow orphanages. As always, “Bozhya Korovka” played an energetic show where everybody danced together and sang along with the singers and musicians.
Volunteers tried to make every gift unique to give children that special feeling of care and friendship, so they asked in advanced about the children’s wishes. Each child was surprised and very happy to receive what he or she had been dreaming about.
And the biggest joy was to see that the children had prepared a New Year’s gift for the volunteers as well. They made it with their own hands to express their gratitude for the longstanding friendship, care and warmth that the children have felt from the volunteers.
