“Danone of Russia” Inc. and the charitable fund “Hope worldwide” are teaming up to help keep children healthy in children’s homes and orphanage schools in Moscow and Novosibirsk.
- Help protect children during the most physically difficult periods of the year (winter and spring).
- Teach children the basics of healthy nutrition and healthcare (prevention).
- Promote healthy lifestyles
It is well known in Russia that the end of winter and the beginning of spring is the most difficult time for people’s health, especially for children. For this reason “Danone of Russia” and “Hope worldwide” have decided to help bolster children’s health during that difficult time of year. This health maintenance program helps approximately 800 children between the ages 7 and 17 from children’s homes and orphanages in Moscow and Novosibirsk. During the period between February 20th and April 20th these children receive Actimel drinks for breakfast every day.
The activity began with the sports/education celebration for children, “Knights of Actimel”, during which children were introduced to the Actimel product as a being a part of a healthy lifestyle and a way to keep from getting sick. In three areas children were able to participate in various sports and creative competitions. At the end of the competitions each child received a “Knights Diploma”, valuable prizes, and a healthy snack. In 2005, “Danone of Russia” carried out the program in 20 of Moscow’s Middle Schools.
At the opening of the program the company’s director Jean-Christophe Laugee made a public appearance. During the award ceremony he commentat on how happy it made him to make children lives more joyful. “…today I saw many smiles and that is the present and reward for us!”
